I don't have any other phone besides original Desire. You might check XDA-devs forum for the latest DHD ROM before trying to roll your own, it's always easier to lean on someone's shoulders =)

Hi Robert,

Great to know there are other foreigners in Japan! My regular e-mail is listed on the "About" page or you may try to reach me at lenik@lazydroid.com -- not sure if Android is suited very well for robotics, but Google has recently introduced Arduino-based robotics platform with Android inside, official kit costs hundreds of dollars, or you may get the knock-off one from Shengzhen for about $85.

I've got about 1.5-1.7 battery life improvement, and the phone got really bulky, I would not even thing about getting anything bigger, now just dropping it on my feet might require a visit to a doctor =)

I've had about 3-4 days with the original battery and now it's up to almost a week. I have recharged last Monday and right now (Saturday morning) I still have 28% battery left. Also, the discharge curve is a bit different, the original battery stays quite long at about full amount, then the discharge accelerates -- I could not leave home with original battery at 20%, because it might suddenly die during a phone call or something. This new battery drops quickly to 80% (in a day, maybe) but then discharge decelerates. 20% with the new battery means I can use it maybe for a 2 more days.

Hi there.
Thank you for sharing this information.
I am running Ubuntu 11.04 and had to modify the udev-rule to:
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0e79", MODE="0666"
If you are using more than one device of the same vendor, you can use ATTRS{serial}=="..." to match a specific device with your udev-rule.
